Discover a New Path to Pain Relief at Life Care Chiropractic and Wellness
Targeted relief for tight, painful muscles.
We’re excited to offer Dry Needling for both acute and chronic pain relief.
What is Dry Needling?
Dry needling is a highly targeted therapy that uses ultra-thin, sterile needles—without medication—to release tension in myofascial trigger points. These tight knots within the muscles can restrict movement and cause pain. By precisely inserting the needles into these trigger points, dry needling helps relax the muscles, restore their natural resting length, and promote healing.
How Dry Needling Works
Unlike acupuncture, which is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling is based on modern anatomical and neurophysiological principles. The technique specifically targets muscular tension, spasms and inflammation by stimulating a “twitch response” in the muscle—often described as a natural reset for the body. Dry Needling can also break up scar tissue and adhesions leading to greater ease of movement of soft tissue.
This process can:
- Relieve pain
- Improve range of motion
- Enhance blood flow
- Accelerate recovery
Some patients feel a brief pinch or twitch; others feel nothing at all. Mild cramping or soreness is common but temporary—most report relief soon after treatment.
Dry needling’s goal is to promote healthier tissues.
- Stimulating the nervous system to "calm down" the muscles and surrounding tissues
- Promoting the better circulation of blood and lymphatic fluids within tissues
- Promoting a local (in the treatment area) immune response to assist in tissue repair
Conditions Treated with Dry Needling
Dry needling has shown strong results in managing a range of pain conditions, particularly when combined with chiropractic care.
It’s most effective for:
- Neck, back and shoulder pain (i.e., whiplash, frozen shoulder)
- Tennis elbow and arm pain
- Migraine and tension headaches
- Sciatica and lower body pain
- Hip, leg, and gluteal pain
- Plantar fasciitis
- Chronic muscle spasms and tightness
- Bell's Palsy
While some patients experience noticeable improvement after just one session, most benefit from two to five treatments for lasting results.
Why Choose Dry Needling?
Benefits include:
- Safe and minimally invasive
- Quick relief from muscle pain and stiffness
- Reduced need for pain medications
- Enhanced mobility and function
- Cost-effective and drug-free
